Submissions for anthologies and zines (when open) are open to writers from across the world.

OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS:

Ey Up: An ANTHOLOGY OF NORTHERN WRITING

March 1-14 2024

This call out is for artists who live in, have lived in, or have a strong link to the North of England.


We are opening from March 1st - 14th for submissions of:

  • Poetry (up to 45 lines)

  • Short stories/book extracts (up to 1000 words)

  • Non-fiction articles (up to 1000 words)

  • Photography (black and white)

 

Poetry and short stories do not have to follow a theme. 

Articles and photography must follow the theme of 'The North of England'.

To submit, we need:

  • Up to three pieces of art, within the word limits (any format)

  • A short bio explaining who you are and what your art entails - 50 words MAX

  • A paragraph explaining your link to the North

  • The county you would like your piece to be credited to (this will be where you live/where the piece is about)

 

Please send this as one document, either in the body of the email or as an attachment. Do not send multiple files.

There is no fee to submit. All successful contributors will receive a free author copy of the collection in lieu of payment.

We classify the North of England to be the following counties:

Cheshire, Cumbria, County Durham, East Riding of Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Northumberland, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear and West Yorkshire, plus the unitary authority areas of North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • We accept poetry and written work that has not been officially published - if it's on your socials, it will still be considered

  • Submissions to anthologies are, for the moment, unpaid, though each published poet/writer will receive a free print copy of the completed work and an opportunity to perform their work for an audience
